2010 Plain Dealer Photo Contest

Your best travel photo from the past two years could send you packing -- for a trip to the west coast of Florida, the top prize in The Plain Dealer's Travel Photo Contest.

The Plain Dealer today launches its third annual competition, which last year drew more than 9,000 entries. Click here for detailed instructions on how to enter.

Photographs may be submitted online or by mail through 5 p.m. Friday, March 19. They must have been taken Jan. 1, 2008 or later.

Again this year, photos will be separated into three categories: People of the World, Sense of Place, and Close to Home. A panel of three judges, all local photographers, will choose the top two photos in each category, as well as a grand-prize winner.

The grand-prize winner will receive a five-night trip for four to St. Pete Beach, the island community of about 10,000 on the Gulf of Mexico, just southwest of St. Petersburg.

Airfare is provided by Visit Florida, the nonprofit agency that promotes tourism to the Sunshine State. Overnight accommodations are provided by TradeWinds Island Resorts, two adjacent beachfront properties (the Island Grand Beach Resort and Sandpiper Hotel and Suites), with a spa, seven swimming pools, five restaurants, kids activities and more.
